How to create, maintain, view, edit and delete tournaments
Tournament Management allows a Team account to maintain its tournament records in Hatrick. Each tournament belongs to the logged-in Team ID and can be added, viewed, edited or deleted.
1. Open Tournaments
From the Team Dashboard, open the Tournaments module.
The tournament list shows tournaments belonging to the logged-in Team ID. A Team account does not see tournaments belonging to another Team ID in this module.
2. Add a Tournament
Click + ADD TOURNAMENT to open the tournament entry form.
Enter the tournament information and click SAVE TOURNAMENT.

| Status * | Select Upcoming, Active, Completed or Cancelled. |
| Description | Enter tournament details, rules, notes or other useful information. |
3. Tournament ID
Hatrick automatically generates a Tournament ID when a new tournament is created.
The current format begins with TRN, followed by the date and a four-digit sequence number.
For example, a Tournament ID can look like: TRN202608180001.
The Tournament ID remains associated with the tournament when its details are edited.
4. Date Validation
Both Start Date and End Date must use the DD/MM/YYYY format.
Hatrick also checks that the End Date is not earlier than the Start Date.
5. Number of Teams
Number of Teams is optional.
If you enter a value, it must be a positive whole number.
6. Tournament Status
The current module provides four status choices:
- Upcoming – the tournament is planned but has not started.
- Active – the tournament is currently active.
- Completed – the tournament has finished.
- Cancelled – the tournament has been cancelled.
Update the status when the tournament's state changes.
7. View Tournament
Click View in the tournament list to see the complete tournament information.
The View page can show:
- Tournament ID
- Tournament Name
- Tournament Type
- Organiser
- Start Date
- End Date
- Venue
- City
- Number of Teams
- Format
- Status
- Team ID
- Description
- Date Created
8. Edit a Tournament
Click Edit against the tournament whose information needs to be changed.
Correct the required information and click UPDATE TOURNAMENT.
The existing Tournament ID, Team ID and original Date Created value are preserved when a tournament is edited.
9. Delete a Tournament
If a tournament record must be permanently removed, click Delete.
Hatrick asks for confirmation before deleting the tournament.
The current module deletes the matching tournament only when both the Tournament ID and the logged-in Team ID match.
10. Maintaining Tournament Records
Keep tournament information current as the tournament progresses. In particular, review:
- Tournament Name
- Tournament Type
- Organiser
- Venue and City
- Start and End Dates
- Number of Teams
- Format
- Status
- Description
When information changes, use Edit rather than creating a duplicate tournament record.
11. Team Security
Every tournament record is associated with the logged-in Team ID.
The current module checks the Team ID when listing, viewing, editing and deleting tournaments. This prevents one Team account from managing another Team's tournament records through this module.
12. What This Module Currently Covers
The current Tournament Management module covers:
- Add Tournament
- List Tournaments
- View Tournament
- Edit Tournament
- Delete Tournament
- Automatic Tournament ID generation
- Tournament type
- Start and End Date validation
- Number of Teams validation
- Tournament format
- Tournament status
- Team ID security
Tournament team registration, fixtures, points tables, match results and other tournament operations should be documented separately when those functions are available in Hatrick.
